Don't worry, the words in Blue will not appear on your t-shirt.

Since the majority of the 55th West Cadet Officers have agreed on the old West Instructor t-shirt, we will be making the older version West Instructor t-shirt. But of course, the offer is open to other intakes as well - 55th and before - regardless what intake you are from, you are able to get it.

Price will be approximately S$10, and the material, dri-fit (not the Spec Course tee that kind of quality of dry-fit) and Polo. Colour and design all will be the same as what is seen in the examples above - i.e. Black, and the crossed-swords with 'West' in the middle and the West CLT motto in Red.

All you have to do is to email me (for the 55th, send to your respective Course PCs) the following particulars in the following format, and of course not forgetting, to pay money!

Name, Intake, Contact number, Shirt size.

Interested participants, kindly reply the relevant information by Tuesday (22/04/08) morning (12pm). Thanks(: For now, don't have to worry about the other details - just give the particulars needed first - the rest of the details will be requested for as soon as the need arises.

UPDATE (as of 23/04/08):
I know it is stated above that the probable price of the shirt will cost $10, but just to play safe, we're collecting $12. Change (if any) will be returned.

NCC Day Dinner 2008

This year's NCC Day Dinner will be held at Orchid Country Club (according to DC, the venue was just confirmed two days ago), and that it will be free for all Cadet Officers! However, each district is only given 4 tables (with 10 chairs each), amounting to 40 Cadet Officers only.

But knowing the size of our West district - especially 54th itself has already got 44 people, and 15 from 55th; still haven't count 53rd, 52nd and before - there won't be space. So CPT Elizabeth wants to see how many people would be interested to go for it, so that if the amount exceeds what we're given orginally, she'll fight for more. So if you're genuinely interested, tell your intake ICs immediately via email - as long as you interested, and probably can make it, send your email.

55th, send to Rafiq (yes, the one who was Parade 2IC). No, he's not the Intake IC - don't thing and ask so much; just send to him.

Date: 9th July (NCC Day Dinner).

Gathering cum NP-NCC BBQ

For all who are asking abt the gathering it will be happening on the 3rd of May at Ngee Ann Poly, the Kismis Field (near the housing estate right beside PIE). It will happen together with the NP-NCC club BBQ, as organised by CPT Elizabeth, 4.45pm.

It is on a Saturday. for those who would like to go, pls give your names to your intake OICs. For all intake OICs, pls submit the names that you have by 23rd April to my email (maverick060686@hotmail.com).

The time given to respond might be very limited as the CLTs from the club who are organising this event needs to know the exact number coming so as to know how many BBQ pits to book. To all newly promoted 55th Cadet Officers, congratulations and welcome to the West family! You've survived the gruelling 3-week Cadet Officer course, and now you've come a level up, a level different from your cadet days (and therefore, you're expected to behave differently from how you behaved back then). Due to time contrain and other factors, we didn't have the time to introduce to you how things run in West, and so now Ears up! we shall do it now (high tech leh!)

Maybe it might be useful for you to know how things work around here:

Before you appear at HQ for any event (in general) to help out or be an instructor in, it is compulsory that you sign up (approximately 2 weeks) beforehand - inform your Intake OIC that you are available on that day(s), and would like to be shortlisted to attend the event/camp - walk-in registration will not be entertained.

Just so you know, there are no more spaces for April trainings (and there's no camp in April) so the next activity would begin from May onwards - depending whether there are activities or not. However, since the Intake OIC has yet to be appointed yet, you may register with Clement (cegyx@hotmail.com) for trainings/camps for the time being.

Activities classified under Trainings: Trainfire, IMT and Range.

Activities classified under Events: Affirmation Ceremony, NCC Day Parade, NCC Day Dinner, SYFOC, etc.

Activities classified under Camps: Camp Feast, Spec Course, Senior Spec Course, Cadet Officer Course.

I'm just listing down the different categories there are for you, but it doesn't mean that you are eligible to apply for all course - the Cadet Officer Course, for example. Having just graduated from Cadet Officer course yourselves, and almost completely ignorant about how HQ works, it isn't an ideal thing for you to taking up posts in such a major course like the abovementioned.

Of course, the smaller ones like Camp Feast and probably Spec Course are the ones you may want to look at first - everybody starts somewhere - and starting small, you'll better learn the trick of your trait. Of course, be reasonable; don't start applying for OIC post, when you just come out from your course - gain some (uh, quite alot of) experience before you intend to go higher.

As you'd have probably been told, each day activity brings you 5 points, while camps vary from one to another, depending on the duration - the number of nights + 1 day - so it's (no. of nights x 10) + 5 = (total number of points). Your course instructors would probably have taught you guys how to go about collecting points during the course itself.

For the new batches, if I'm not wrong, you'd have to clear your probabtion period - attend 1 Trainfire, 1 IMT and 1 Range within the period of 6 months. 6 months is quite a long time, so relax; don't need to rush.

ANNOUNCEMENT TO ALL,

With the recent dispute on the tagboard, this post is to give a clearer picture to all.

1. The West Council is estabalish by West DC, MAJOR Gary due to the continual renewal of West District leadership within the Cadet Officer Corps itself.

2. To be fair to all Intakes, the Council consist of members of different intake to provide more transparency.

3. For the selection of Key Appointment Holders (KAH) OIC & 2IC is being done by the Ex-Co (Admin, 2IC and OIC) within the Council itself and submit to District Specialist for approval OR the District Specialist himself, will shortlist deserving Cadet Officers. However, selection of OIC and 2IC would differ from camps to camps due to the nature of the Course.

i.e You're being shortlisted for OIC for Camp FEAST, but OC for Specialist Course.

4. The nominated OIC, 2IC will source for Cadet Officers after being approved and submit the names of Cadet Officers and strength to District Specialist for Admin and Logistic purpose.

5. For other KAH eg. Admin, Log, OC would be decided by the Course OIC, 2IC based on individual forte and ability as for them to exercise more freedom and power control.

6. The post of PC and APC would be given to those who are still relatively new to the Cadet Officer Corps i.e APC for 54th Intake, PC for 53rd Intake.
